Experience

Having clerked for the Honorable Whitney Rimel, United States Bankruptcy Court, Eastern District of California, for two years and for the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel on two matters, Kenrick Young brings substantial experience in all aspects of bankruptcy and commercial litigation to his practice.

Prior to starting his Creditors’ Rights practice, Kenrick Young worked at a prominent Chapter 11, debtor-side bankruptcy boutique in Los Angeles, California.  He represented individual Chapter 11 debtors, real estate developers, a technology firm, an auto products manufacturer, and entertainment clients.  Kenrick Young then moved to Sacramento's top law firm and built a  state-wide creditors’ rights practice that included bringing complaints in both state and bankruptcy court.

He has achieved a variety of successes on both the debtor and creditor side, including stripping secured status on a number of allegedly secured claims and resolving claim litigation with the Internal Revenue Service, State of New York and Department of Labor.  He has filed and resolved claim disputes in bankruptcy cases under Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13.

Bankruptcy Claim Litigation
Represented Chapter 7 trustees and Chapter 11 debtors, such as Dura Art Stone, Aris Industries, Lightpointe, Buena Vista Lofts and Mark's CPA, in litigation to liquidate, disallow or to recharacterize secured claims.

Real Estate Chapter 11 Insolvencies
Represented real estate developers as debtors in all aspects Chapter 11, such as DAKS, LLC and PW, LLC.

Creditors' Rights
Represented creditors in various aspects of Chapter 7, 11, 12, and 13.  Represented leasing companies in state court collections and bankruptcy court.  Represented financing companies that held fixture-filing security interests in home improvements.   Managed and supervised hundreds of collection matters in both bankruptcy and state court.
